Yahoo! Leos are at the Calgary Stampede!

From July 9th-19th, 2010 the Calgary North Hill Leos will be volunteering at the Calgary Stampede. The Leos will be helping to increase ticket sales by interacting with the public at the BMO Centre. The Leos will also be protecting George the Lion as he puts smiles on childrens faces. The Stampede gives money back to local volunteer organizations (i.e. Lions and Leos) for every ticket sold. So if you have some free time at the Stampede next year, check George the Lion, learn about the Leos and buy a lottery ticket. Its for a good cause!

Leos contribute to PBCC and YMCA

In the month of June the Calgary North Hill Leos are proud to announce their commitment to donate money to the Palliative Breast Care Centre and the YMCA. From fund raising efforts the club was able to donate to these organizations to continue their excellence in the community as well as improving the health of others.

Passing of the Torch

On July 1st the Calgary North Hill Leos will officially be guided by new club president Raymond Nguyen. The Calgary North Hill Leos would like to thank president Christopher Woo for a successful 1 year term managing and leading the Leos to become a successful youth volunteer group. Chris has gone beyond the call of duty even managing events until September 1st. Chris lead with passion and constantly acted with conviction to demonstrate to the youth that volunteering is not just for the resume, but its about helping others and becoming a better person in society.


Leos Peace Posters

On June 10th, 2010 the Calgary North Hill Leos celebrated the artistic creations of young students around calgary by throwing a carnival in their honor. Students from various elementary and junior high schools created posters themed after peace. Each piece of artwork was evaluated and winning posters would be displayed at city hall. The Leos provided prizes for the winners and family and guests were allowed to partake in the provided food, music and carnival games. The Annual Leos Award Ceremony

On July 4th the Calgary North Hill Leos, Lions and guests attended the annual Leos award ceremony. A event organized and presented by Leos President Chris Woo was held to recognize and honor the commitment, dedication and hard work of all the members over the year. Awards were presented to special individuals who showed true characteristics of Lionism.

Leos team up with Meals on Wheels for the Calgary Scotiabank Marathon

The Calgary North Hill Leos and Meals on Wheels work together once again! Only this time at the Scotiabank Marathon on May 30th, 2010. Volunteers were to  man re hydration stations for runners to grab water during their run. Although volunteers ran into difficulties and volunteering was limited the Leos put in a great effort and showed dedication and commitment to arrive early in the morning. The Scotiabank Marathon raised close to $250 000 to be donated to 19 charities and organizations. For more information about the Scotiabank Marathon please visit:

Leos, Meals on Wheels and a lot of Cookies!

On March 20th, Leo Ming Wo organized a event for the Leos to help the Meals on Wheels organization. A large number of  Leos helped package thousands of cookies to be given out with meals. With or without the bad economic situation we all face, there are many elderly people that  cannot afford food. Meals on Wheels is an organization that provides and delivers a low cost meal service for seniors. For more information on Meals on Wheels please visit

Leos lending a hand at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind

On February 20th a few of our prominent Leos assisted at the CNIB Art Auction. The Leos performed various tasks that needed to be completed throughout the whole evening for the event to run smoothly and efficiently.
